BAND:
Liz Ofte (Keys/Conductor)
Liz’s first memories from growing up on a dairy farm in the Midwest are playing the piano, listening to music, and singing to the cows. Not only did she love music, but she also loved theater and as a child would create scripts and perform in plays with her friend and charge their families to see them. In middle school, she started playing trumpet, and she would take part in lip-sync competitions. Throughout her high school years, she would take part in musicals acting and singing, and playing trumpet in marching band, jazz band, and many other ensembles.
After graduating with a degree in Trumpet Performance with a minor in Musical theater, she moved to Las Vegas. During her time in Las Vegas, Liz has performed in many cover bands and original bands over the past decade singing, playing keytar and trumpet as well as touring the midwest and west coast. She has been an opening act for many of her favorite 80’s bands such as Modern English, Missing Persons, When in Rome, Bow Wow Wow, and The Fixx. She has also been a radio host playing the best of the ’80s and ’90s for years. Currently, she teaches vocal lessons, piano lessons and directs shows at School of Rock.
Liz is so excited to be a part of this show, and to be working with such talented and dedicated individuals who bring songs near and dear to her heart to life in such a fantastic way!
Melle Vasquez (guitar) was born and raised in Hawaii. Before moving to Vegas, she lived in Los Angeles and has toured with various recording artists including Cyndi Lauper and P!nk. Since residing in Las Vegas, she has also been part of Cirque du Soleil’s Zumanity and Mystère.
Harley Siu Swisher (Bass)
As a bass-player Harley Swisher intends to connect people with music the way she feels it in her soul. Her amalgamation of rock, jazz, and pop help her create unique and powerful grooves that help her stand out among the rest. Since the tender age of 5 years old, Harley has been creating and playing music and journeyed through multiple instruments, but the base has her heart. She has collaborated with many local artists and taken the stage at Life is Beautiful, Extreme Thing, House of Blues, Hard Rock Live, Vinyl, and many more. Her passion for music runs to where she wants to share with future generations teaching at Girls Rock Vegas, School of Rock, and currently at Ready Set Gig. Harley attended UNLV for Jazz Composition and Theory and continues to create music, currently recording and producing music as one-half of the production team Jaq-Jaq.
Anisa (drums) is most alive while keeping time. Her journey with drums started in Pakistan at age 10 and her teenage years were spent playing in various school bands. Being a natural-born rebel, she spent her time while grounded in high school learning songs from bands she idolized like Tool, Nine Inch Nails, The Deftones, System of a Down, A Perfect Circle, Rage Against the Machine, Pink Floyd, and many more. Anisa has played in many professional bands, corporate acts, and original bands on the Las Vegas Strip and beyond at venues like Brooklyn Bowl, Vinyl, Park MGM, Red Rock Resort, Whiskey a Go Go, Planet Hollywood, The M Resort, The Cosmopolitan and many more. Her most notable achievement to date is opening for her hero, Danny Carey, at The Viper Room with her original band Candy Warpop. This 5’9, “Foxy Lady” has a flair for fashion, passion for plant-based living, her B.A. in Print Journalism (with a minor in Film Studies), and a deep obsession with time when it comes to the drums and otherwise. “Playing drums for this production is a dream come true! I genuinely love every song we play, the cast is phenomenal and I get to reclaim my goth girl days."
